Snowball-Man Free Crochet Pattern

As the Winter season approaches, it’s the perfect time to bring a touch of warmth and whimsy into your home. Today, I am excited to share a delightful Free Snowman Crochet Pattern that’s not only fun to make, but also adds a charming touch to your holiday decor.


Whether you’re an experienced crocheter or just starting out, this little snowman is sure to brighten your day and bring a smile to everyone who sees him. So grab your yarn and hooks, and let’s create a frosty friend together!


Going into this pattern, I do expect that you understand basic US crochet terminology. If you need a refresher, please watch the video below on how to do all of the stitches used in this pattern.


You are also able to make this pattern in whichever yarn weight and hook size suits you best, I just included mine as a reference!



Materials Needed:

  • Super bulky yarn (weight 6) in black, red, white, and orange
  • Size h (5mm) crochet hook
  • Stitch marker (optional)
  • Darning needle
  • Stuffing
  • 12mm safety eyes

Terminology & Abbreviations:

sc: single crochet

inc: increase

dec: decrease

mr: magic ring

fo: fasten off

ch: chain

st: stitch

blo: back loop only

flo: front loop only

bo: bobble stitch (5 double crochets)

slst: slip stitch

cc: colour change



Hat & Body


In black yarn:

1.6sc in mr [6]
2. (inc)*6 [12]
3. In blo: sc around [12]

Cc to red

4-5. Sc around [12] (2 rows)

Cc to white

6. In blo: (sc, inc)*6 [18]
7. (2sc, inc)*6 [24]
8. (3sc, inc)*6 [30]
9. 15sc, [cc to orange] ch 3, in second ch from hook slst, sc in next ch, [cc to white] 15sc [30]
10-12. Sc around [30] (2 rows)
13. 10sc, [cc to brown] bo, [cc to white] 4sc, [cc to black] sc, [cc to white] 4sc, [cc to brown] bo, [cc to white] 9sc [30]
14. Sc around [30]
15. 15sc, [cc to black] sc, [cc to white] 14sc [30]
16. (3sc, dec)*2, 2sc, bo, dec, 3sc, bo, dec, 2sc, dec, 3sc, dec [24]

Insert safety eyes between rows 9 & 10, 2 visible st away from the nose. Start stuffing.

17. (2sc, dec)*6 [18]
18. (sc, dec)*6 [12]
19. (dec)*6 [6]

Fo, finish stuffing and sew the opening closed. 



Brim of Hat


Attach your black yarn to the flo of row 5:

(inc)*12 [24]

Fo, weave in your ends. 



Scarf


In red yarn:

Ch 50, fo, weave in ends. Tie around between rows 10-12.


And that is your finished Snowball-Man!
